The role of education in Kenya.

The role of education in imparting intellectual, moral and social skills and values in order to achieve economic, social and political prosperity is imperative. The question of access, relevance and content of education provided are very important in order to achieve the aforementioned goals. However several criticisms have been leveled against the Kenyan education system in relation to the following; inefficiency to utilize resources to meet educational needs and waste5.Other criticisms leveled against the education system include; poor administration structures, quality and relevance of curriculum and cost of providing education. The education system has also been criticized in its inability to develop socially, politically and economically.
Kenya’s education system has not been able to tailor its contents to the socioeconomic and cultural realities of the people capable of developing local solutions for local problems. Instead it continues to uphold an education system that is centered on schooling rather than learning and this has led to people or citizens looking for education in some other countries.
The aims of schooling and educational system among others should be able;
(i) To foster the development of adequate skills and appropriate knowledge needful for a country’s development.
(ii) Instill citizenship skills based on a realistic and thorough understanding of the political system.
 (iii) Provide a historical overview of the nation, the continent and world which accurately represents the contributions of all ethnic groups to the storehouse of knowledge.

Education is a bridge to a better life.

I have to insist that the major challenges stressing the acquizition of education should be handled right from when they are realized. Kenya being a developing country is faced by different educational challenges that sometimes make it difficult to implement educational policies that should be done aimed at improving our educational needs and thereby fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of young citizens who wish and are motivated to get education.
As the election period approaches, i only wish to encourage the noble citizens of Kenya to elect leaders who will be sensitize and open enough to bring and formulate plans that address education as a factor that is used to create or make a better nation. Such leaders should also be ready to implement the educational plans that are relevant and those that addresses the needs of the common wananchi.
I hope that with the chance that we all have as voters, the best leaders will be elected.

Give in your comments and views on this matter, but please remember that we are headed to very deicate time of the the year in which hate speech is a motivator and a reactor to certain unpleasant behaviors.
Take care.
